Most of the 16.1 miles (17.3 from Wentworth Springs Staging) * of trail consists of large boulders and rocky terrain. The other parts of the trail go across huge granite slabs which have steep inclines and sharp drop offs. This trail is not for the faint at heart! Recent reviews of Rubicon Peak Trail in Tahoma, California, United States, note snowy and icy conditions, with deep snow at higher elevations. Microspikes, snowshoes, and crampons are recommended for traction, especially towards the top. The trail provides beautiful views, but the climb can be steep, with snow and ice present even in November.
